Viktor Nikolaevich Panin is a director of the Institute of International Relations, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of International Relations and Global Economy, Chairman of the Dissertation Council D 212.193.03, honored worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation.
V.N. Panin is a founder of the unique for South Russian scientific school for international relations, director of Research Institute of Strategic Studies. He supervised more than 30 successfully defended doctoral and candidate dissertations. He is an author of more than 200 methodic works, including three monographs, published in Russia and abroad. V.N. Panin is a scientific editor of more than ten monographs on problems of international relations and safety issues. He is a member of Russian and foreign academies, associations, expert and redaction councils, chairman of the Stavropol department of the Russian Association of Political Science. In 1994 he took part in the work of Summer Institute in American political system (USA), in 1998 he was a scholarship holder of the Program of Regional Scientific Exchanges (IREX) and in a 2003-2004 academic year he was a scholarship holder of Fulbright Program and led a research work in Harvard University. He worked in a range of Middle East countries.
V.N. Panin’s area of expertise includes international relations, global politics, political integration, Russian-American relations, Caucasus, Middle East, theoretic and applied aspects of international relations, safety, terrorism, and extremism. He regularly appears in mass media as an expert. He was awarded 12 medals, certificates of honor of the Federation Council and State Duma of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, governor of Stavropol Krai, Pyatigorsk mayor. In 2010 he acquired a title of Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation.
