The Chair of Psychology of Personality and Professional Activity was formed in 2005. Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor S.V. Khrebina has been heading the chair since its formation.
The origins of the chair’s development are linked with a successful work of the Department of Psychology, which trained students during 15 years. The demand for psychology experts training grew and gave new possibilities for the education quality improvement and the introduction of a multilevel system of training.
Conditioned by the demand in professional psychologists, the training began in 2007 with the implementation of the program of Psychology of Labor and Organizational Psychology. In this connection, the chair’s name was changed into the Chair of Psychology of Development and Management.
In 2008 the chair started working out an additional professional educational program with a qualification of Legal Psychologist, on the basis of 030301 Psychology. In 2009 the program was licensed. In 2012 the chair opened new master’s programs: Legal Psychology and Psychology of Human Resources Management with first graduates in 2012.
In 2016 a new program called Psychology in Social Sphere and Professional Activity was created.
The basic direction of this activity is an organization and implementation of the teaching staff activity of the chair to train the new type of graduates who possess contemporary, creative methodology and innovation and technical competence.
The Chair’s Priorities:
1. Organization of the educational process as a single transformation activity.
2. Projecting and construction of the significant results.
3. Technologization of the social and humanitarian knowledge in technologies with further marketization and commercialization.
The chair’s teaching staff is a consolidated scientific and pedagogic personnel who combine traditional psychological basics as well as innovative methods and technologies of the psychological knowledge acquirement. Author methods and educational concepts, practice-oriented educational programs, interactive and active educational methods, all these assist the achievement of the successful results.
At present the chair’s teaching staff is represented by the high-quality and creative professionals: doctors of psychological sciences, professors, candidates of sciences, associate professors, leading lectors of the chair.
The chair implements the educational process in all the levels: secondary vocational education, bachelor’s programs in all majors, master’s programs, and postgraduate studies.
The chair graduates students in 37.04.01 – Psychology (Psychology in Social Sphere and Professional Activity master’s program) and 37.05.02 – Psychology of the Professional Activity (specialization Psychological Assistance of the Professional Activity of Law Enforcement Agencies).
The chair signed the Agreements with:

2. Armavir Social and Psychological Institute (D.N. Nedbaev).
3. Trauma and Crisis Services: International Training and Consulting, Boston, USA (Ph.D. Elena Cherepanov).
4. Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychological Assistance, Lüdenscheid, Germany (V.K. Jung).
5. Correctional Facility #3 of the Federal Agency of the Sentence-Implementation Service in Stavropol Krai (S.N. Voldugin).
The chair’s technological sites are Psychological Service of PSU, North Caucasus branch of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia.
In September 2017 the Chair opened a Regional Resource Center of the Inclusive Education in order to implement a state policy of disabled people’s education, which allows them to receive higher education, and having a profession which would make them equal members of the society.
The graduates of the university, who are in demand on an external labor market, now work as psychologists in different organization of Stavropol Krai and other Russian regions.
The chair trains students and postgraduate students in following educational programs:
• 37.04.01 – Psychology (Psychology in Social Sphere and Professional Activity master’s program);
• 37.05.02 - Psychology of Official Activities, specialization: Psychological Support of Law-Enforcement Officers Activity;
• 37.06.01 – Psychological Sciences (Pedagogic Psychology).
As well as the compulsory programs of higher education:

- 37.05.02 – Psychology of Official Activities, specialization: Psychological Support of Law-Enforcement Officers Activity (Prof. S.V. Khrebina);
Fundamentality, science, practice, and professional orientation, continuity, heritance of education, integration with Russian and world professional community are the principals of educational activity.
The chair has created a wide scientific, educational, methodic, and practice-oriented base for the years of its functioning. The teaching staff published more than 40 monographs, about 100 methodical aids, and more than 500 scientific papers.
More than 100 programs of different term and qualification were worked out and implemented through different university and chair structures.
The Chairs’ workers developed about 20 innovative methods, which are used in an educational process, are officially fixed in the Academic Board.
The Chair implements 7 educational and profession-oriented student projects, included into the electronic project system of PSU, and it runs two clubs – Creative Psychologist, and Development Resource.
The Chair obtained 8 licenses for an intellectual property in the internal state certification bodies (Rospatent).
There are two Massive Open Online Courses: Security Psychology (L.B. Voronina), and Entrepreneurship Psychology (I.A. Kolinichenko); as well as 12 online resources and 11 student projects.
Directions and results of the research work
The Chair of Personal Psychology and Professional Activity possesses a rich scientific and academic material, a big number of publications in different journals, included into the HAC index, international journals, regional and university collected papers. The teaching staff of the chair takes an active part in different international conferences: The International Scientific-Practical Conference on the Humanities and the Natural Science; Practice Psychology of XXI Century: Problems and Perspectives; “Russia and Europe: Connection of Culture and Economy” International Scientific and Practice Conference (Prague, Czech Republic) etc.
Numerous studies, which are carried out as a part of the research work, allowed the teaching staff to make a range of serious conclusions and practice recommendation, which are successfully used in the educational activity of the university.
From the moment of PSU “innovative belt” formation, as well as practice-oriented, production and entrepreneurship structures, the Chair has been actively participating in the solution of the problems. The chair’s lectors show their readiness and initiative in the training of the new-type graduates. A special attention is paid on the formation of the professional qualities, temporary and constant work. Innovational scientific and production activity of the Chair of Personal Psychology and Professional Activity is implemented through the PROFI-SOCI-LINGUA program.
The Chair works in two scientific directions:
“Organizational Psychology of the Education (S.V. Khrebina, E.N. Asrieva, R.G. Zvereva, I.A. Kolinichenko, S.A. Nikulina, E.A. Terentieva, R.N. Yundin) and “Interactive Psychological Consulting: Environment, Development, Rehabilitation Approach” (N.M. Shvaliova, L.B. Voronkina).
The Chair trains the postgraduate students in 37.06.01 – Psychological Sciences in two directions:
19.00.01 – General Psychology, Personal Psychology, History of Psychology;
19.00.07 - Pedagogic Psychology.
16 postgraduates defended their works.
The Chair’ workers published about 80 articles in the HAC journals, more than 300 publications in RISC journals, and more than 10 publications in foreign (international) Scopus, Web of Knowledge, and ERIH PLUS publications.
More than 100 textbooks were published by the chair.
All the chair’s workers undergo advanced training in time.
A special attention of the Chair’s activity is paid to the research work with students. Every year the students of the chair win the Innovational Potential of University Youth competition.
