Cooperation of the Resource Center of IFLIT PSU – Partner of the project “German Language as the first second foreign language” and Goethe German Cultural Center
The chair of linguocommunication and applied foreign languages of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Tourism headed by Associate Professor V.V. Elkin, with a unique for Stavropol Krai Resource Center – partner of project “German as the second first foreign language” continues its interaction with Goethe German Cultural Center.
The project is headed by Associate Professor N.M. Kashirina, who finished advanced training of experts for Russian centers of German language teaching from April till June 2017 in Irkutsk. Coordinated by Associate Professor L.A. Vetyugova.
This promotion project implemented together with German side is directed to the introduction of the German language as the second foreign language in Russian schools. Informational, organizational and methodic support for schools in Stavropol Krai which are going to provide German language classes was the purpose of this collaboration. Coordination of the project at a local level, interaction with regional education authority bodies, consultation, cooperation, preparation and testing of different events for this project purpose groups, their analysis and generalization are the main tasks of the Resource Center.
One of the first results was the award of start packages which included Wir text-books, brochures for teachers with methodic recommendations, games for country studies, as well as office supplies with Goethe Institute emblem.
Broadening the geographic borders the Center passed materials for Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, and Krasnodar schools for a total cost of 200 000 rubles.
The Resource Center officers N.M. Kashirina, E.N. Melnikova, L.A. Vetyugova plan and organize linguistic Olympiads, contests, and quizzes in the schools of the region, attracting the students of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Tourism of PSU within the framework of educational and production practices.
There are distance advanced training and retraining for the school teachers “German as the second foreign language”, educational seminar and professional retraining “Methods of German Language Teaching as the Second Foreign Language” for the institutions lectors, as well as distance language course for the teachers of German language (B1) and distant advanced trainings “German for Teenagers” (DLL 10), provided by the Goethe Institute for free.
