Maslenitsa – Tradition of the Russian Folk Culture
16.02.2018On February 15, Department of Language Arts and Pedagogic Education of ITM celebrated Maslenitsa. It was a great festival in traditions of Russian culture. The guests were met with dances, competitions games, and of course with tasty pancakes - the main symbol of the holiday.
Lectors, students, guests, and students of the Center for International Education took an active part in the festive program: they sang along the songs, said verses about spring in the Russian language. Tug-of-war was the most interesting and active competition, all the participants were carried away by the fight and did not want to give up.
The competition for the Tastiest Pancakes also took place. They all were the tastiest and the best! But this year saw 3 winners: Mila Gatsenko (1 year) won 2nd place, and the first place was divided between Yulia Pavlenko (1 year) and Danil Ermakov (10b form).
After the concert program participants burned a dummy. That is an ancient tradition of saying farewell to winter and welcome sunny spring. It was a great, hilarious, and interesting holiday for foreign guests as well.
