XI Conference of the Russian Union of Rectors took place in Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, where V.V. Putin the President of the Russian Federation took the stage.
The Conference gathered more than 500 rectors of the Russian and foreign institutions, all the participants amounted to 700.
Pyatigorsk State University was represented in all the conference’s events by its Rector A.P. Gorbunov (vice-president of the Russian Union of Rectors, and its structures: presidium (13 members), administration (30 members) and council (93 members) and by Y.Y. Grankin, Prorector for Academic policy, education quality control and information.
According to the Russian Rectors’ Union press service the participants of the conference discussed global issues of the united Russian educational space, strategy of the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, interaction of the universities with schools and society, as well as international aspects of the Russian Universities activity.
The activity of the Russian Rectors’ Union is directed on the joining forces for the development of a higher education system, which will transform it into the progressive power, which creates innovations-oriented state and forming knowledge-oriented economy. International activity of the Russian Rectors’ Union is focused on the strengthening of the ties with scientific and cultural organizations and establishments to exchange the foremost technologies and global academic and humanitarian space.
