German Service of Academic Exchanges (DAAD) Presented its Programs in PSU
On October 8, 2018, German Service of Academic Exchanges presented its scholarship programs for 2019 at Institute of Roman and German Languages, Informational and Humanitarian Technologies.
DAAD is the biggest German organization which unites higher educational institutions of German and which promotes the development of international academic collaboration by means of students and scientists exchange.
The presentation attracted students from Institute of Roman and German Languages, Informational and Humanitarian Technologies, Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism, Institute of Foreign Languages and International Tourism, lectors from the Chair of German Studies and Intercultural Communication and the Chair of Linguocommunicativistics and Applied Foreign Languages.
Mrs. M. Wenzel, DAAD Lector in Pyatigorsk State University told the audience about the Germany Service of Academic Exchanges and scholarship programs offered.
The focus was paid to the scholarship programs for summer courses of German language in German institutions, which are very popular with students.
Summer courses help to receive a profound knowledge of German language (general language knowledge and competencies, profession-oriented linguistic training) and country study.
Mrs. Wenzel told in details about peculiarities of the submission and scholarship receipt as well as about the requirements for the candidates.
Avery year, students of the Roman and German Languages Institute who study German successfully pass the competition and become DAAD scholars.
This year five student of the German and English Languages Department of IRGLIHT won this scholarship programs and had a possibility to study on three-week courses of German language in German institutions:
Viktoriya Kosikhina - „Deutsch intensiv” language course, Fachhochschule Aachen (Aachen).
Vlada Filimontseva - «Intensivsprachkurs Deutsch als Fremdsprache» language course, Universität des Saarlandes (Saarbrücken).
Lyudmila Pashinskaya - «Deutsch als Fremdsprache» language course, Universität Passau (Passau).
Marianna Tlyancheva – „Internationaler Ferienkurs für deutsche Sprache und Kultur“ language course, Universität Heidelberg (Heidelberg).
Marina Temmoeva – «Sommersprachkurs Deutsch» language course, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Munich).
The scholars shared their experience in submission, and participation in competitive selection, as well as their impressions from studying in Germany.
The programs of the courses were rich and diverse, they included educational sections (Leseverstehen, Hörverstehen, Grammatik, Sprachfertigkeit, Phonetik), project work (Deutsche Landeskunde, Wirtschaft, Schreibatelier, Podcast), with a focus on the improvement of linguistic, country study, intercultural competency of the students.
Cultural program included movies, festivals of nationalities, quests, sightseeing tours by the German cities and neighboring Europe countries (the Netherlands, France, Luxemburg, Belgium). All this allowed students to receive a unique experience of diving into the other country’s culture, broaden their knowledge and improve their sociocultural and international communication skills.
After the courses termination, PSU students received certificates which approve their German language level (B1-C1).
