Pyatigorsk State University Organizes “Programs of Russian Language Popularization in Foreign Countries” Roundtable
On December 12, 2018, Pyatigorsk State University organized “Programs of Russian Language Popularization in Foreign Countries” roundtable, within the frameworks of a program of Islamic education in the North Caucasus. Participants of the roundtable discussed the following issues: a place of Russian language in contemporary world, specifics of Russian language learning in conditions of multi-ethnic and multi-confessional North Caucasus region, role of the Centers of Russian language and culture in Russian language popularization, realization of a creative potential of competitions and scientific potential of conferences in order to promote Russian language, opportunities of intramural and distant Russian language studies, using mass online-courses, specifics of Russian language learning at preparatory departments of Russian institutions and short-term courses.
Y.Y. Grankin, Prorector for Academic Policy and Education and Informatization Quality Control, welcomed the participants, underlying an importance of Islamic education programs in the North Caucasus through a Russian word, rich traditions of Russian and Caucasus cultures interaction. A word was given to: I.B. Fedotova, deputy head of the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education, Head of “Pushkin Institute” Center of Russian Language and Culture (“Realization of Programs of Russian Language Popularization in Foreign Counties on the Basis of Pushkin Institute Partner Network”), G.G. Kuregyan, Assistant Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education (“Experience in Popularization of Russian Language within the Frameworks of Creative Events and Scientific and Practice Conferences”), A.F. Petrenko, Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies in Philological Education (“Utilization of the Open Online-Courses for a Distant Study of Russian Language and Literature”), N.A. Orlova, Assistant Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies in Philological Education, deputy head of the Center of International Education (“Realization of Educational Programs, Aimed at the Popularization of Russian Language in Arabic Speaking Audience”), Ali Hater (Egypt), IV year student of Pedagogic Education, Philological Education profile (“Russian Language in my Life and Carrier”), Alaa Kozhkar (Siria), student of Preparatory department for foreign citizens (“Why I study Russian Language”).
These issues discussion gathered representatives of NCFD institutions and Pyatigorsk State University: A.O. Brodzeli, Associate Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education, Justyna Pilak, senior lector at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education (Poland), Russian and foreign students (Angola, Egypt, China, Turkey). They underlined that Russian language is a language of peacekeeping and friendship, collaboration and mutual understanding. Foreign students, who study at NCFD institutions will carry Russian language to their countries and introduce a rich Russian history and culture to their friends. Unanimously accepted resolution, which included offers to support popularization of Russian languages, was the result of the roundtable's work.
Taher Hassan Abdekhafiz Eyssa, CEO President Office of Asyut University (Egypt), PSU partner institution, sent a welcoming letter to the round-table participants.
V.V. Mnatsakyan, Rector’s Assistant for Interaction with International Organizations, took his concluding word, focusing on the importance of intercultural communication based on Russian language.
