On February 21-22, 2019, Institute of Roman and German Languages, Informational and Humanitarian Technologies of Pyatigorsk State University hosted UNIVERSUM ROMANUM – V International Science and Practice Conference. The Conference was organized by the chairs of Spanish Studies and Intercultural communication, and Chair of French Philology and Intercultural Communication.
Z.A. Zavrumov, Prorector for Academic Work, and E.N. Pronchenko, Director of IRGLIHT delivered welcoming remarks.
Important aspects of Roman languages study and teaching were discussed at the conference as well as social groups and their linguistic practices. The conference was divided into three sections:
1. System, structure, and typology of Roman languages.
2. Language and culture, linguistic world view, literature study, and intercultural communication.
3. Linguodidactics, and teaching of foreign languages as applied languages.
The forum welcomed 42 authors of scientific studies, whose number included representatives of the range of linguistic schools of foreign institutions, particularly Sophie Othman, lector of the Applied Languages Center at the University of Franche-Comté, Besançon, Nuria Sosa Galan, lector of Spanish Agency for International Collaboration and Development (AECID), Javier Aspillaga Olaysola, lector from MSU, and lectors from different chairs and institutes of PSU, Pyatigorsk Pharmaceutical Academy, International Center of Education and Ibero-American Studies of the South Federal University, as well as masters and postgraduates of Pyatigorsk State University.
