In late October 2020, an international expert committee on educational programs quality assessment visited Pyatigorsk State University to estimate the following programs:

40.03.01 Jurisprudence, coordinated by Professor I.A. Alekseev, Candidate of Juridical Sciences, Director of Juridical Institute, Head of the Constitutional and Municipal Law;

45.03.02. Linguistics, coordinated by Professor T.A. Shiryaeva, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Head of the Chair of English Language and Professional Communication (ITAM, IFLIT, IRGLIHT);

44.03.05 Pedagogical Education, coordinated by Associate Professor I.B. Fedotova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education (ITAM, IFLIT, IRGLIHT, HSM, HSDA).

The educational programs quality assessment included several stages (which took place online):

  • Preparation of self-examination reports;
  • Accreditation procedure based on the reports;
  • Questioning and interviewing students, teaching staff, employers, and graduates.
International accreditation was held by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) following the standards and recommendations, harmonized with European and international standards of education quality.

The Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating has been organizing ranking examinations of higher educational facilities in the world since 2014. Annual IAAR ranking examinations are based on international standards and aimed at the development of the higher education system. Ranking of IAAR helps to compare the educational activity of universities and their educational programs by the parameters, which reflect all the aspects of the education provided.

The Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating informed about the decision made on November 13, 2020, at the meeting of the Accreditation Board:

About the international program accreditation of educational programs (bachelor’s programs):

1) 40.03.01 Jurisprudence
2) 45.03.02 Linguistics
for a term of 5 years.

About international specialized primary accreditation (ex-ante) of educational programs (bachelor’s programs):

3) 44.03.05 Pedagogic education (with two majors) for a term of 5 years.

Russian universities, which were internationally accredited, receive an additional international acknowledgment, comparability, and convertibility of qualifications appointed by the university, guarantees of high quality of education of services, as well as their accordance with international requirements. It also increases a competitiveness of a graduate on a national as well as on the international labor market, an additional opportunity for employment in their field in Russia and abroad.

International accreditation is the most widespread and efficient model of education quality provision in the world.

The university rector’s office and coordinators of the programs express special gratitude to the structural subdivisions of the university and whole teaching staff for cohesive operational work, especially to the directors of Institutes and Higher Schools, heads of chairs, head of basic professional educational programs for their responsible attitude, personal involvement, and corporate spirit.

There were no cases during the recent 30 years when the university diploma was rejected or disapproved in any part of the world. The university’s graduates work and live in more than 120 countries of the world. The procedure of the International Accreditation additionally proves a high level of educational programs and training quality at Pyatigorsk State University on an international level.
