21.12.2020Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and RIA Novosti have launched student linguistic project “Nuremberg-75” within the framework of “Nuremberg. Inception of Peace”.
During this project, which was joined by 25 PSU students, volunteers will translate more than 2,000 pages of materials and testimonies of the main court process of the 20th century, which haven’t been published in Russian till the present.
Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov noted the importance of students’ participation in projects like that: “Participants of this initiative will receive not only the opportunity to apply new knowledge in practice but also to become a part of a big and important work, diving into previously unknown events of the World War II. It is extremely important for the young generation to learn history, based on the authoritative sources, which preserve knowledge and undistorted sense of the past.”
The Chair of Theory and Practice of Translation at the Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism provided significant assistance to the organization of this work, and PSU Volunteer Center coordinated the project.
PSU students have started translating the materials from English, German, and French in a test mode. The whole workscope is to be finished by October 2021.
