1

It is the second largest undergraduate college with around 1100 students. Founded in 1972 as the first purpose-built, mixed-sex college, it is named after the famous British mathematician, who was a former Chairman of the University Council.

2

It is informally known as Castle. It was founded in 1832. As a constituent college, it is listed as a higher education institution under section 216 of the Education Reform Act 1988. Almost all academic activities, such as research and tutoring, occur at a university level.

3

It was founded as an Anglican hall in 1904, principally to provide a university education for those considering ordination in the Church of England. For the first 70 years of its existence, a high proportion of students completed their undergraduate degree (in any discipline) and then remained for postgraduate training for ordination. The college remains a Church of England foundation but it ceased formal ordination training in 1971.

4

It was established in 1846 as the second college of the University. The establishment of the college as a furnished and catered residence with fees set in advance was then a revolutionary idea, but later became general practice at student residences. This idea originated from the founding Master, David Melville.

Перед Вами третий этап. Под названием каждого найденного Вами колледжа Вы можете видеть информацию о некоем, безусловно, известном и выдающимся, его выпускнике. Ваша задача – указать фамилию этого человека.
