Shayev Yuriy Mikhaylovich
In December 2009 he defended his candidate of philosophic sciences dissertation on The Sense in Hermeneutics: Experience of Semiotic Analysis, at the dissertation board of Volgograd State University. In 2015 he acquired a scientific rank of Associate Professor on Ontology and Theory of Cognition.
Y.M. Shaev published more than 60 works, including monographs (Virtual Reality: Prolegomena for Ontology, Moscow; Philosophy of Video Games, Tomsk; etc), scientific articles in journals, listed in SCOPUS and Web of Science citation bases, and HAC journals. Y.M. Shaev actively participates and performs at international and Russian scientific conferences.
Area of expertise: philosophy of informational technologies in virtual reality, game studies, philosophy of a sign.
Y.M. Shaev heads the Virtualistics, Ontology of a Virtual Space, and Humanitarian Technologies – innovative scientific laboratory, where together with E.O. Samoylova (scientific officer) he is actively involved in fundraising. Y.M. Shaev carried out scientific projects: “Research for the Sign and Sense in the Structure of the Virtual Space Discourse” project within the frameworks of a state order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (2012-2015); “Ontology of the Virtual Space” (Russian President Grant 2014-2015, MK-1139.2014.6); “Internet of Things and Social Ontology” (Russian President Grant 2016-2017, MK-7802.2016.6). At present, the scientific team, headed by Y.M. Shaev is working on the project called “Internet of Things in the Context of Transhumanism: Analysis of Ontological Bases” (Russian President Grant 2018-2019, MK-6507.2018.6).
Y.M. Shaev is an organizer (together with E.O. Samoylova) of Animagia - the all-Russian festival of Asian culture lovers, held at PSU. He also heads the “First Stage” club of Asian culture lovers, cosplayer, prize winner of many Russian and foreign festivals of Asian and contemporary youth geek-culture.
Y.M. Shaev is a certified teacher of Engish, who took courses of CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), takes internships abroad (Poland, China), and participates in the international workshops (Poland, Serbia, Romania, Turkey).
