Pushkin Institute Center of Russian Language and Culture Opened in Croatia
23.10.2017The opening ceremony of the Pushkin Institute Center of Russian Language and Culture took place on October 23, 2017, on a Day of Russian Language in Juraj Dobrila University (Pula, Croatia). The Center was formed as a part of the implementation of a federal program “Russian Language” in “Formation and Development of a Partner Network “Pushkin Institute” in order to develop, promote education in Russian language and Russian language teaching.
Timeliness of the opening of the Center of Russian Language and Culture is proved by the recent meeting of the leaders of Russia and Croatia in Sochi, during which President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin discussed the measures to build further bilateral interaction and signed a range of cooperation agreements.
Together with Croatian colleagues, representatives of Croatian Association of the Russian Language and Literature Teachers and Pula Municipality the Center was opened by Professor A.P. Gorbunov, Rector of Pyatigorsk State University, V.E. Mishin, head of the Department of international relations and educational programs, I.B. Fedotova, head of the chair of Linguistic arts, pedagogic technologies of philological education, chairwoman of Pushkin Institute.
A greeting letter of the President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic was read at the opening ceremony. She noted a long history of full-scale convergence and succession of scientific and cultural ties between Russian and Croatian people and expressed certainty in further fruitful collaboration and gratitude to those who helped in the realization of this project.
The ceremony participants were met by the head of Russian Cooperation Representation at the Russian Embassy N. Yakimchuk, Croatian students who read A.S. Pushkin verses. A special attention was drawn to a photo exhibition “Instants of Russia”, created and presented to the Center by Pyatigorsk State University.
During the Day of Russian Language in Pula, there will be video presentations about Pushkin Institute in PSU, history, literature, and poetic legacy of Pyatigorsk, symbols of Russian culture, Russian movie festival.
