Croatian-Polish-Russian Dialogue on the Eve of PSU 80th Anniversary at Pushkin Institute – Center of Russian Language and Culture and Center of International Education

A whole range of substantial and interesting meetings with Polish and Croatian guests took place on the eve of anniversary events. A ceremonious meeting took place at Pushkin Institute – Center of Russian Language and Culture. The event was held by I.B. Fedotova, Head of the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education, head of Pushkin Institute, and N.A. Orlova, Deputy Director of the Center of International Education. 

Among the guests were Professor Iwonna Ndiaye (University of Warmia and Mazury, Poland), Professor Irena Mikulaco, and Professor Daniel Mikulaco (Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, Croatia), who conduct Erasmus+ program. 

Lecturers from the Chair of Literature Professor A.M. Kazieva, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor V.I. Shulzhenko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor A.F. Petrenko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A.O. Brodzeli, Candidate of Philological Sciences, and G.G. Kuregian, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Head of the Pushkin – Literature Club also took part in the event.

It is known that Pyatigorsk State University works with a slogan of “University that Opens and Transforms the World.” And it is foreign friends who help with this.

The opening of the Centers of Russian Language and Culture in partner universities, participation in conferences, joint projects, students exchange – these are the common actions that unite our universities and gave an impulse for new researches and movement. Science, poetry, music, this is the world that gives us joy and unites us. Student, masters, and postgraduates welcomed the guests in Russian, Croatian, and Polish languages, and invited to play Rucheyok.

Professor Iwonna Ndiaye (Poland) read a course of lectures on: Intercultural Dialogue to an Intercultural Society – Truth and Myths (the crisis of intercultural communication in Europe); Features of Media Translation as a Variety of Mass Media Discourse and its Role in the Process of Intercultural Communication; Some Aspects of the Polish-Russian Intercultural Dialogue (Russia in the Strategic Position of the Newspaper Text); Russian Discourse in Poland. Stereotypes of the Image of Russia in the Polish Media. The lectures gathered II-IV year students and masters of the Department of Literature and Pedagogic Education.

Professor Daniel Mikulaco read a lecture in English on Croatian Language and Culture: Past, Present, and the Future. Professor Irena Mikulaco read lectures in Russian About Russian Intellectuals through the Prism of Solovyov, Vrubel, and Blok Creative Worlds Diversity; Comparative of Legal Terminology of International Legal Acts in Croatian and Russian Languages on the Example of Ugovor/Dogovor Term and Related Terms; Terminological Doubts in Translation of Legal Terminology and Business Communication. She also gave a practical lesson in Russian: M.Y. Lermontov “Sail”. Russian students, students of the Center of International Education and Debut UNI students actively participated in the intercultural dialogue, read poems by A.A. Blok. The guests were invited to the classes of Russian as a foreign language in the Center of International Education.

Within the project of Literature and Educational Tourism, the foreign guests visited M.Y. Lermontov’s House Museum, Place of Duel, and also went to Prielbrusie. 

We thank our foreign colleagues for fruitful cooperation, interesting meetings, new projects, and pleasant business and friendly communication.
