Russian Languages Wins Over the Global Space

A project titled “Russian Language Wins Over the Global Space” is carried out at Pyatigorsk State University backed by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

The project’s target is to provide the work of efficient mechanisms of scientific, methodological, and resource support of education in Russian and Russian language abroad, as means of the Russian society consolidation, international communication, influence of the spiritual culture of Russia on the global cultural and educational space.

The principal aim of the project is to voluntarily spread and promote the Russian language as a fundamental base of a civil identity, cultural and educational unity of multinational Russia, means of efficient international dialogue through the organization of comprehensive educational, scientific, methodical nature.

The project is also aimed at:
  • popularization of a Russian education;
  • Russian as a foreign language teaching level increase and development of creative abilities of foreign students;
  • Russian and foreign teachers of Russian as a foreign language activity consolidation, integration of compatriots who live abroad via linguocultural and spiritual bonds, based on Russian language command;
  • enrichment of the spiritual culture of Russia through the broadening of international polylogue boundaries.

The project’s timeliness is conditioned by the ever-increasing role of the Russian Federation at the international stage and strengthening status of Russian as a world language and lingua franca, the state’s need in the consolidation of Russian-speaking people, who live in different parts of the globe, as well as the necessity to provide the work of efficient mechanisms of scientific, methodological, and resource support of education in Russian abroad.

The project has a public significance because it develops patriotism on the basis of the promotion of Russian as a state and world language (with the help of volunteers), integrates compatriots who live abroad, and forms and promotes the Russian national idea.

The aims and targets mentioned above, as well as the significance of the project, correlate with the aims of the Russian Language Federal Target Program till 2025 (FTP aims at the Russian language popularization, broadening, and strengthening of Russian linguistic, cultural, and education spaces), and reflect the content of the principal events of the Program.

The popularization of the Russian language as a basis of the civil identity, cultural and educational unity of multinational Russia, means of the efficient international dialogue is extremely important in the internal as well as in the foreign policy of the Russian Federation.

The increasing influence of the Russian state at the international stage and international relations broadening clearly shows that position of the Russian as a world language, a universal language for the communication of different nations is not strong enough. Implementation of comprehensive educational, scientific, and methodological nature included in the project is aimed at the Russian language popularization in Russia among foreign students, as well as abroad.
