The Rector of PSLU on the Meeting of the Russian Historical Society
10.09.2015General meeting of the Russian Historical Society took place on 9th September at the Fundamental Library of Lomonosov Moscow State University, which was held by S.E. Naryshkin, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society.
The quality of history teaching in schools and institutions was the main issue for the discussion. The Chairman of the RHS said that it was necessary to pay more attention not only to the introduction of new history textbooks, but to the fair methodic support for teachers as well. “It is necessary to focus on the updating of a corresponding literature, and programs for the advanced trainings of teachers,” said S. Naryshkin.
V.A. Sadovnichiy, the Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University expressed his concern about the fact that in recent four years the number of state-funded places for the “History” has decreased by a half in 35 Russian institutions. “This situation must be changed, because the historical education influences the many factors of patriotic education and civil society development,” said Sadovnichiy.
The members of the Russian Rectors’ Union, rectors of the leading institutions of the country, including Professor A.P. Gorbunov, the Rector of PSLU, vice president of RRU, directors of federal archives, museums, representatives of regional historical and cultural establishments took part in the general meeting.
The current activity of the Society was discussed on the meeting, as well as the plan of priority projects. The reelections of the Society managing organs took place as well.
